The Decency of Tricks with Balls

Damn!!! I bet you’re thinking exactly what I’m thinking….

This dude is the freakin man! For as long as I can remember, the ancient art of ball tricks has always piqued my interest to the point of obsession. The flirtation with the surreal, not yet magic, but aesthetically akin to “The Birth of Venus” — Tim Nolan could be deemed the Boticelli of ball tricks.

The hand-eye coordination on display is analogous Jan Van Eyck’s “Portrait of a Man in a Turban” in it’s realism, as sensual and gratfying as Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights“, and as unadultered and instinctive as Burge’s The Dark Dancer.

There’s something to be learned in every snare and toss, in every lucky bounce that Tim Nolan garners. His graceful and frictionless movement and his connectedness with the objects and space around him encourages not just affiliation, but participation in the natural state of the cosmos. To frame it in another manner — Tim Nolan’s mastery of his craft is decent.
