One of The Community’s absolute favorite stores has to be Radio Shack – the legendary purveryors of a diverse range of gadgets, telephones, cords, keyboards, radios (obviously) and other sex toys. The Community has become an astute understudy of the Shack’s founders, their business model and its rise to prominence from humble beginnings in Boston.
God-like figures Theodore and Milton Deutschmann founded the Shack 87 years ago this week. Originally intended to supply the needs of radio officers aboard ships, as well as “ham” radio operators — the Shack also operated as an underground fuck palace for the sleezy, sex-addicted inhabitants of Boston. It is said that Boston became the most hump-happy metropolis on earth during the 1920’s — precisely the same time period the Theo and Milt began expanding their “radio dealing” empire!
Much like “Radio” Shack, The Community strives to be a front for a worldwide orgy movement.
