(old school look = indecent) (new school look = very decent)
If one is to study the evolution of women’s pubic hair over the past 50 years or so, you’ll see pretty much the whole spectrum of stylings — all of them exhibiting unique expressions of their times, and yet too often dismissed as nugatory in the circles of those with advanced tastes. Because so little has been written on muff trends, The Community felt it pertinent to conduct a brief exposé on the past, present, and future of the women’s bush.
It’s largely thought that women’s pubic hair was never subject to trimming until around 1950, with the advent of the bikini and otherwise skimpy swimsuits. As the popularity of these suits increased, the size of the bush decreased — so as not to protrude from the vaginal area. This is not to say that hair was completely removed, rather cropped down as necessary.
The trimming movement took an aesthetically pleasing turn in the 70′s and 80′s with the arrival of the “French Wax” – today we refer to this as a “landing strip.” This style promoted a lone central, vertical line of hair ending at the top of the vulva. It’s said that the landing strip’s popularity reached it’s peak in the early 90′s.
The craze of removing bush hair came to a head in the mid 90′s with the Brazilian bikini wax. This sometimes painful procedure involves violently plucking every hair folicle until the women is left with raw, bare skin. This clean-shaven look was said to be fashionable until October 9, 2008.
The natural next step in the progression would be the removal of skin — an unviable option for women and the men who bone them. So what’s next? Starting a new cycle and growing the shit out of the bush, realizing that the most natural look is always the most beautiful. Whoever said that hair was unsightly is definitely no friend of The Community and is way out of touch with current pubic hair trends. So ladies, it’s time to let that hair sprout, allow it to mushroom out into our glorious world, and blossom into a gorgeous garden of decency!
