Over the past ten years or so, the practice of wearing a mustache as an ironic, tongue in cheek gesture has become a phenomenon. Jokesters everywhere (including The Community) have hailed the stache as of symbol hip sarcasm, but in the process, the stache’s clout has been diminished. That’s why today Decent Community is declaring that The Goatee Is the New Mustache!

You see, much like the mustache, goatees will become fly/chic primarily because screwballs are sporting them nowadays. Think about it — your present day goatee wearer is probably one of these three people:

• Goatee Wearer #1 is a skinny bastard with spiked hair wearing an extremely baggy button up shirt. He definitely has a pager/cell phone holster clipped to his belt and had his ear pierced at some moment in his life. This guy has a broad who loves cats and he drives fairly recent model Nissan automobile.
• Goatee Wearer #2 bics his dome like a skinhead and thinks he’s way more badass than he actually is. He rocks a pair of those neon Oakleys that wrap around around most of his head, is a huge UFC fan, possibly on steroids, and his wardrobe is strictly wife beaters, cutoffs and tank tops.
• Goatee Wearer #3 is a ‘salt of the earth’ type fella, likely from New Hampshire with bushy chops and a reddish/brownish “goat.” He shares all his flannel t-shirts with his high school sweetheart/wife, and loves eating soup, chopping wood, and just being a husky guy in general.

Believe us when we say the goatee is just entering the early stages of its stylistic potential. Indeed, now that it’s gone out of style, it’s actually in-style —  in a retro, wacky sorta way. The above mentioned goatee wearers are about as passé as they come, but before it goes the way of the “perverted porn stache guy,” the “80′s Tom Selleck/Burt Reynolds wannabe,” and the “Midwestern Wal-Mart moron,” the goatee’s inevitable vintage stereotype will become the decent and “in” thing.
