ONE REASON: HIS LOOK.
There’s said to be one group of people that can get e away with wearing a goatee and that’s baseball players. It’s pretty true. The goatee in general isn’t a good look. But have baseball players ever head decent style? Indeed! The 80′s were a lovely time for baseball style. From the Bash Brothers and Rickey Henderson to Robin Yount and Eddie Murray the style in the 80′s was just as exceptional as their play on the field. But since then baseball player’s pants have gotten baggier and they all look like cranberry bog workers from Rochester.
Then comes along one Luke Scott. A true trend-bucker in his own right. His play on the field, quite frankly means nothing. He looks like a baseball player and that’s really all that matters. Trotting around the bases with his mullet flapping in the wind reminds me of a young Mike Schmidt. Everything from the yellow, mirrored Oakleys to the giant gold cross and chain screams “I’m a fucking baseball player, now get out of my face!” and I like it. That son of a bitch! Hey Luke, you’re about 20 years late for the prom, buddy, but we love it!
