How decent are outtakes? Nothing caps a good movie like some funny outtakes playing while the credits roll. Two flicks to recommend with some hysterical outtakes: The Cannonball Run and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. … Dear the m’fcker who hacked into my e-mail and sent out a message to everyone on my contact list offering cheap, generic viagra: FUCK OFF! … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) A look at Japan’s oddest museums, including the best of Japanese advertising and even one full of parasite specimens; 2) A Time Magazine reporter offers a nice account of the Winter Olympics, including how the Vancouver edition was the drunkest Olympics of all time; and 3) Check out these cool pieces of art made from stuff on your desk. … It’s a big week down at the decent Rose Alley Ale House in downtown New Bedford. The popular pub is celebrating its first birthday with a range of events, including a March Madness-themed beer tournament, a wings-eating contest, and the release of a special calendar featuring the beautiful ladies of the Rose Alley. Swing by and check it out all weekend. … Happy 54th birthday to the current mayor of Sacramento, Calif. and former NBA All-Star guard Kevin Johnson. He was the seventh pick in the 1987 NBA Draft, a draft that featured Hall of Famers David Robinson (No. 1 to the Spurs) and Scottie Pippen (No. 5 to the Supersonics) and future Hall of Famer Reggie Miller (No. 11 to Indiana). The Celtics used the 22nd pick that year on a shooting guard from Northeastern — Reggie Lewis. … Happy 42nd birthday to porn star and weird fetish queen Susan Cummings. Did you know Cummings has appeared in more than 280 pornos and has 45EE boobs? I tried to find a link to one of her “movies” on ExtremeTube, but apparently, she’s too much for the Internet. Ont he other hand, if you’re into that sort of thing, ExtremeTube is pretty decent.

International competition. Bobsled. Curling. America topples Canada on ice. Alpine skiing. Biathalon. Nordic combined.

What’s decent about the Olympics? Everything, or course. From the ladies who like to watch every kind of figure skating to the guys wondering how all these hot chicks got involved in curling, the Olympics offers something for everyone — and its seemingly 24-hours-a-day coverage means there’s always something dece to watch of TV.

So here are a few Olympic fun facts, courtesy of the Book of Odds.

The 2010 Olympic mascots (above) are Quatchi (a sasquatch) and Miga (half orca, half kermode bear). Their unofficial sidekick is a non-mythic Vancouver Island marmot named Mukmuk. Miga and Quatchi are not the Winter Olympics’ first cryptozoological mascots: the Turin games in 2006 had Neve and Gliz, a snowball and an ice cube. And at the ’92 Albertville games, it was Magique, a “snow imp” or anthropomorphized star.

There are two notable Winter Olympic events that didn’t stand the test of time: 1) Skiojring, skiing while being pulled by a pack of dogs, ceased after the 1928 Games while the Winter Pentathalon (Cross country skiing, downhill skiing, shooting, fencing and horseback riding) saw its final run in 1948.

The only even the U.S. has not medaled in EVER is the biathalon. That list also included the nordic combined until won a silver medal a few weeks ago.

Only one Spanish athlete has ever won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. It was Francisco Ochoa in the 1972 slalom.

There have been only four athletes in Olympic history to win medals in both a Summer and Olympic Games. One is American, Eddie Eagan, who won the gold in light-heavyweight boxing in 1920 and another gold in the four-man bobsled in 1932.

Thursday Ramblings

Why is it when I go to Wal-Mart I hear more Spanish than English? … Faithful readers of Thursday Ramblings might recall my idea to get very wealthy: Buying a $20 scratch ticket every Friday. Well I went five straight weeks of losers before I finally won something — a big $200 winner on Week 6. For those mathmatically-challenged, that’s +$80 after six weeks. I haven’t cashed the ticket yet but am planning on doing it tomorrow and saving it to fund the next 10 Fridays. Stay tuned. … Happy 28th birthday to porn star Jamie Lynn. Did you know Lynn, the Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2006, was the first Ganja Goddess for High Times magazine? … Happy 35th birthday to comedian and E! Entertainment TV star Chelsea Handler. Did you know the host of Chelsea Lately, who used to date the CEO of Comcast (and boss of E!), appeared on the cover of Playboy last year and turned down a spot on Dancing with the Stars? … Finally, today would have been George Harrison’s 67th birthday. Although John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote most of the Beatles songs, Harrison is credited with writing “Here Comes the Sun,” “Taxman,” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”

How cool was “Saved by the Bell?” The decent show from years ago still brings back fond memories. Apparently, according to Screech, it was wicked awesome to be on the show. In his autobiography, he details many scandals that happened on and off the set. Slater raping a girl in his trailer. Zach Morris and Kelly Kapowski having threesums with the cocaine-using producer. Slater, Morris and Screech all banging Kelly then Jesse than Lisa. Screech scoring with an NBC executive. I’m not kidding, read more about it in a review of Dustin Diamond’s book. … So you think you’re the toughest of the tough? The baddest of the bad? The man, the coolest, bestest dude out there? Try your hand at the annual “Tough Guy” race next year. Held every February, the race pits hundreds of macho toughguys, from Army rangers to police captains to athletes, through an 8-mile obstacle course full of barbed wire, firepits, broken glass, ziplines and every other hell you can imagine. The Daily Mail did a nice pictorial of it and this looks like it’s the real deal. “We have our fair share of broken bones,” one of the organizers said about the annual race that raises funds for a variety of charities. … Three links for your enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Answers to the top 25 questions about Apple’s new iPad; 2) CNN has a profile about the new $7,500 sex robot; and 3) The seven most-believed police myths, thanks to movies. … How awesome was it when the very decent Budweiser Clydesdales spent a week in downtown New Bedford last summer? It seems that’s going to be the last time anyone sees them for a while. The beer company has announced that the famous horsies will not appear in a Super Bowl commercial this year, marking the end of a more than 20-year run of featuring their likeness during the big game. Hopefully, they’ll make a return in 2011 at halftime of a Patriots-Saints Super Bowl. … Yesterday was National Signing Day for high school football players to commit to play at the college level. The University of Florida, Texas and USC were once again the big winners. But as time will tell, whether these stud high-schoolers pan out is anyone’s guess. A look at the last 25 Gatorade Players of the Year in high school shows some mixed results, to people playing in the Super Bowl this weekend (Peyton Manning) to guys now working for a roofing company in Minnesota (Chris Walsh, POY in 1992). Two interesting tidbits from looking at the list: 1) Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer was the best high school football player in 2001 and turned down offers from Notre Dame and Miami to pursue a baseball career; and 2) Tim Couch, former Kentucky QB and No. 1 overall pick by the Cleveland Browns who was POY in 1996, is now married to Playboy centerfold Heather Kozar. … Speaking of football, happy 51st birthday to Lawrence Taylor. While he is remembered as probably the most feared defensive player in NFL history, Taylor is probably more well known for his abuse of drugs and alcohol that led to multiple arrests. Did you know that Taylor used to pay hookers to visit players on the opposing teams the night before games to tire them out? And for a bonus, did you know that Taylor’s son has signed a letter of intent to play college football at Purdue next season? … Happy 62nd birthday to rocker Alice Cooper. His hits, among several others, include “School’s Out” and “Poison.” Did you know that Cooper is the Godfather to Megadeath frontman Dave Mustaine? … Coming tomorrow to Decent Community: The right proposition bets to make you some Super Bowl cash, as well as predictions from some Decent experts.

Somber anniversary this Thursday for it was 24 years ago that the Space Shuttle Challenger broke apart just 73 seconds after take-off due to a faulty O-Ring (really, not a sexual joke). When the ring failed, the rocket and shuttle literally ripped apart. The cockpit hosting the seven astronauts remained intact but it is believed the crew didn’t survive the impact of the cabin with the ocean floor. It was three years before NASA attempted another shuttle launch. … On a more upbeat note, it was 52 years ago today that the Lego company received a patent for its Lego brick, leading to one of the most popular toys of all time. The world’s tallest Lego tower is in Windsor, England, at a Legoland amusement park. It stands almost 100 feet tall and is made of about 500,000 bricks. Did you know that the company is planning another Legoland themepark to open in 2015 in the uber-decent city of Dubai? … Maybe some people don’t realize that we’re still in a recession. City and town municipal budgets are in rough shape, yet that didn’t stop the city of Omaha, Nebraska, to ask for $34,000 to buy a new speedboat. Note that there is no major body of water for hundreds of miles around Omaha. … Did anyone see Cutthroat Island on AMC last week? I watched it for about three seconds before turning it off. Why is Cutthroat Island so noteworthy? It is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest box-office flop of all time. It cost about $115 million to make and made only $10 million worldwide. Check out the list of the biggest flops of all-time, including Son of the Mask, Battlefield Earth, Gigli and The Adventures of Pluto Nash. … Now that the NFL Draft order is pretty much set (only spots 31 and 32 are left to decide), many publications are putting together their first official Mock Draft. A survey of several out there, found here, have some interesting options for New England. Mel Kiper of ESPN says Clemson outside linebacker Ricky Sapp at No. 22. Other options people out there are thinking include Tim Tebow, Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, USC running back Joe McKnight and Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gersham. … Speaking of football, all the crap Vikings fans are feeling about Brett Favre blowing the game by throwing that awful INT when he could have ran for four yards and kicked a game-winning field goal for a trip to the Super Bowl has been felt before by Packers fans in 2004 and 2007, and the Jets and Patriots fans last year. Remember, it was only 14 months ago that the Jets had to win to send New England to the playoffs and Favre threw four picks. Don’t forget that horrible INT he threw against the Giants in OT the years the Pats bid to go 19-0 was unsuccessful. The man who holds the NFL record for postseason interceptions will always blow it when it counts. … Three links for your enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Scientists find the world’s sluttiest bird, adding that 95 percent of them mate with multiple dude birds; 2) Cracked offers six reasons why you shouldn’t try to make homemade porn. Pretty amusing stuff; and 3) Check out these awesome mustaches from the 19th century. … Today would have been the 98th birthday of decent artist Jackson Pollack if he hadn’t have died in a drunk-driving crash in 1956. He is considered one of the most famous and most influential artists in history. His works cover the walls of museums and galleries across the world. Did you know that Pollack was expelled from two high schools because of drinking too much? … Also sharing birthdays today are Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski (26), actor Elijah Wood (29) and singers Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys (30) and Joey Fatone of N’SYNC (33).

TV analysts have been saying for a while now that NBC’s “Heroes” is in trouble, but Jack Bauer may have slammed the nail in its coffin. According to Media Life Magazine, the second night of the “24″ premiere drove audiences far away from NBC’s long-running show. “Heroes” registered 1.8 million viewers on Monday night, 14% less than last week and an all-time low for the series. For anyone interested, Bauer delivered a very decent 3.8 million Sunday night and a 3.4 million Monday night, a little higher than expected. … Speaking of “24,” e-mails have come flying into Decent Community about the new CTU chick with the large rack. She should be very recognizable to sci-fi nerds: She is Katee Sackhoff and she appeared on the popular Battlestar Galactica and has appeared in several episodes of everything from Law and Order to Nip/Tuck. She is currently in remission from thyroid cancer after having her thyroid removed several years ago. Did you know that CTU’s newest hottie was born in Beaverton, Oregon? … I don’t have anything against all the New Year’s Resolution newcomers at the gym every January. Some of the meatheads at Workout World in New Bedford grumble when they see the new faces, but I am more in the camp to wish them good luck and hope they stick around. One person who I don’t ever want to see again in the chubby girl who has shown up the past few days around 2 p.m. She wears jeans and a tanktop way to small for her and spends all her time barely walking on the treadmill while talking on her cell phone so loudly that everyone can hear her conversation about her ex-boyfriend and how the police planted drugs on him after a fight outside a bar in Fall River. Oh, did I mention she walks on the treadmill in Uggs? Please leave and never come back, thanks. … There are three ways to get extremely wealthy in today’s world: 1) Be a very good professional athlete; 2) Be a very talented entertainment celebrity; or 3) Hit the lottery. I’m going with the latter and have started a new campaign where I buy a $20 scratch ticket every Friday (0-for-1 so far, -$20). You’ll know if I won when you see a Decent Community Super Bowl commercial. … Speaking of the Super Bowl, congrats to everyone who won a hundo taking my advice last week by betting on the Jets. Want to keep that hundo? Don’t bet this weekend. The Jets got pretty lucky last week (three missed San Diego field goals) and the Colts got a good look at the Ravens’ defense last week that is extremely similar to New York’s. That being said, I wouldn’t bet a penny on the Colts or the Jets, just too much uncertainty. Same with New Orleans and Minnesota. Anything can happen in that game. For what it’s worth, I’m picking a New Orleans-Indy Super Bowl. … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) A look at the coolest fictional guns in movies and TV. I think Robocop’s pistol should be a little higher; 2) Drunk guy gets shot then gets a DUI while driving himself to the hospital; and 3) Very talented artist can make some pretty cool stuff using only one piece of printer paper. Very decent. … A pair of basketball legends are enjoying their 57th birthdays today, the first being decent old-school player Detlef Schrempf. He was a three-point machine for Indiana and Seattle. Did you know Schrempf, who married a former hurdler on the West German Olympic team, passed his sweet jumpshot onto his son, Alex, who is a scholarship freshman at UCLA? And the second is Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon. Did you know that Hakeem, a 12-time All-Star, Olympic gold-medalist and Hall-of-Famer, was one of just a handful of NBA stars to endorse a sneaker not made by Nike, Reebok or Adidas? He chose Spalding and a $35-pair of sneakers to wear because he didn’t want to endorse expensive kicks that would put strain on families. … And finally, happy 54th birthday to actress and Wareham, Mass., native Geena Davis. Did you know that Davis is a member of the American Mensa Society, an organization for Americans with IQs in the top 2 percent? Hers is 140, slightly higher than Tubesteak.

Casino gambling is becoming quite the hot issue around Massachusetts. Although it is illegal to open a casino, the state legislature is expected to take up, and many insiders feel they will approve, casino gambling in the state. New Bedford is hot on the trail of a casino, and one developer has released some mighty fine plans for the former NStar plant off Route 18. A slide show showcasing the plans is quite a nice way to spend a couple of minutes thinking how cool The Whaling City would be with a hopping urban casino. … So it’s no secret that The Jersey Shore is the hottest thing since sliced bread. Everyone is talking about the show which is currently MTV’s top program. Hell, even Tubesteak and I are starting to do some daily GTL. Anyway, the stars of the show are now making a fortune. Various Web sites are reporting that the stars are now charging big bucks for appearance fees to go to various events. Pauly D is getting $7,500 a pop and everyone’s favorite, Snooki, recently got $10,000 to go to a bar opening in Florida. That’s a lot of tanning and plastic surgery right there. Think it’s not that big? Obama was recently asked if his daughters watch it. He said no way. … Sucked not having Wes Welker on the field last week against Baltimore but Welker seemed to have a good enough seat for the game: In Bob Kraft’s suite with a hottie next to him. Who is this chick Welker’s doing? Sports Illustrated tracked her down. Her name is Anna Burns (above) and she was the 2005 Miss Hooters International. Decent! … Speaking of football, want to win some cash? Bet a couple hundo on the Jets (+7½) at San Diego this weekend. With New York’s No. 1 defense, points will be at a premium, meaning you’re a big winner if the Chargers win 13-6. Plus, the Jets might win outright. San Diego has feasted on crappy teams like the Raiders, Chiefs, Broncos and N.Y. Giants, and the Bolts have no running game. The Jets, meanwhile, excel at blitzing and shutting down No. 1 receivers, a la Capt. Cornerback Revis. Other playoff picks for this weekend include New Orleans (-7), Indy (-6½) and Dallas (+2½). … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Canada’s second-oldest magazine, The Beaver, has to change its name because it’s attracting the wrong crowd online; 2) Is Tiger Woods being treated for sex addiction? People magazine says he has checked into the same rehab place David Duchovny went for his issues; and 3) A cool look at some books lost to history that might have changed the world. Sexual Bible? … Happy 56th birthday to decent old-school wrestler “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, who in 2009 set the WWF record for most years (17) between Royal Rumble appearances. Did you know that Duggan was arrested in 1987 for driving drunk and high in New Jersey while The Iron Sheik was blowing cocaine in Duggan’s front seat after a WWF show? … Happy 62nd birthday to “Apollo Creed” Carl Weathers. Did you know Weathers, who played in eight games at linebacker for coach John Madden and the Oakland Raiders from 1970-71, denied a request from Sylvester Stallone to use footage from the first Rocky movie in the latest entry, Rocky Balboa, because he wanted a part in the movie. Kind of a silly request considering Apollo died in Rocky IV. … Coming soon to Decent Community: Everything you ever wanted to know about animal sex.

Damn, that’s one huge building they opened in Dubai. By now, everyone knows it’s the tallest building in the world, but did you know it contains a seven-star hotel designed by Georgio Armani? It features 160 rooms and suites across 10 floors with eight restaurants, a library, swimming pool and gym. This Dubai place sounds pretty f’ing decent too. Around the new tower are five more hotels, a massive shopping mall, at least 150 restaurants and 1,200 shops, an indoor ski resort, an olympic-sized ice skating arena and a 4.6-million-gallon walk-through aquarium. … For you decent folks who haven’t been to the movies to see James Cameron’s “Avatar,” well, you might be the only people in the world who haven’t seen it. Analysts say the 3-D epic, which has generated more than $1 billion in ticket sales worldwide, is on track to become the biggest movie of all time. Cameron’s “Titanic” currently holds that title with $1.8 billion, but that didn’t have 3-D, which analysts say keeps the movie in theaters longer and adds a “I gotta check out this 3-D thing” to the movie. … Speaking of movies, the ‘Net is already a buzz over the offerings coming up in 2010. So far, people are buzzing up message boards about an A-Team remake (set for release in June), the new Twilight (June 30), Iron Man 2 (May 7), the new Harry Potter (Nov. 19) and a new installment of The Chronicles of Narnia (December). The list of scheduled 2010 movies is here. … The Patriots have a tough task ahead of them on Sunday, and that was before Wes Welker shattered his knee. The Pats beat the Ravens in October, mostly because Derrick Mason dropped a pass at the end of the game. Sorry Pats fans, but I don’t think the sons of Belichick can win this one. I’m picking Ravens 20, Pats 13. Mike Reiss, formerly or The Boston Globe and now with ESPNBoston.com, has a great mailbag this week and is worth a quick scan through if you got a few minutes. A reader makes a good point: Will New England draft a receiver in April to try to replace Welker, who might not play next year and will be a free agent after 2011? Unless they make the Super Bowl, New England will select 25th in the upcoming draft. Who does ESPN have as the 25th best draft prospect? Notre Dame receiver Golden Tate. … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) The New York Times makes a cool chart/graphic summing up the last 10 years in culture; 2) These penguins must have been irate when their worst enemy butted himself into their photo; and 3) Dating Web site only for “beautiful people” kicks out some members for gaining weight over the holidays. … Happy 26th birthday to Jon Lester. The Sox lefty has developed into a legit No. 1 starter in the majors and could become the Sox ace if Josh Beckett leaves for big bucks next offseason. He also works pretty cheaply considering he’s on the cusp of becoming an All-Star: He will make $6 million a year through 2013 with a club option worth $14 million for the 2014 season. Did you know he met his wife, Farrah Johnson, while he was pitching rehab starts in 2007 while battling back from cancer? … Happy 27th birthday to golf hottie Natalie Gulbis. She has made more than $6 million in earnings from her eight years on the LPGA tour, has several companies endorsing her, and has appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and on the cover of FHM magazine. Did you know she appeared on an episode of “The Price is Right” last year as part of a showcase theme and nailed a putt earlier in the show during the “Hole in One” game? … Happy 62nd birthday to decent musician Kenny Loggins. He made a living (and a pretty decent one too) performing songs for 80s movie soundtracks. He performed “Danger Zone” in Top Gun, “Footloose” in Footloose and ”I’m Alright” from Caddyshack. … Finally, congratulations to longtime Community Member and Isotope Dave Gags on his recent engagement to the lovely Kelly Desmarais. In true Gagliaduchi Italian fashion, the couple is getting married at a local pizzeria with an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.

Meet Tubesteak’s dreamgirl, Michelle Thompson, above. What makes her Tube’s top babe? She has a rare medical condition called Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome. Her condition forces her to constantly crave some loving. She has 300 orgasms a day! Her recent plight is noteworthy, though. She has dated men on and off but has never found one who can satisfy her endless cravings for sex. But don’t pity her, she has found a new man and is thrilled about it. Apparently, her neighbor is the man of her dreams. She says they do it 10 times a day and she constantly has a smile on her face. That would make me smile. … People say the recession is over, but tell that to all the unemployed guys out there. Well, I just might have a part-time gig that is fun and pays pretty decently for you jobless fellas out there: Become sperm donors! Here’s how it works: Walk into a sperm bank, answer some questions, meet with some administrator and jack off in a cup. The lab will test it, and if your count is high enough and you don’t have AIDS or any other disease, they will ask you to sign a contract asking you to come in twice a week to whack off in a cup. When your six-month agreement runs out, the lab will save the samples and sit on them for six months for more testing. At the end of the six months, head back in and collect up to $50 for every jack-off session. That’s roughly $2,500 for flogging the dolphin a few times a week. The Sperm Bank Directory has more information and a map to find a bank in your area. There’s one in Cambridge for all you Boston fellas. … Three links for your enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Moviefone offers its best disaster movie scenes. I vote for NYC getting tidal-waved in Deep Impact; 2) Got a shitload of extra cash lying around? Here’s seven outrageously expensive things no rich asshole can do without; and 3) Newsweek takes a look at the 10 worst predictions of the decade. No. 8 still pains me to think about. … Want more proof that Gerard Butler, aka Leonidas from “300,” is the man? He admitted on a British TV show that he has more threesums that twosums. … Today would have been Miss Elizabeth‘s 49th birthday if she didn’t die of a drug overdose in 2003 at the home of Lex Luger. Miss Elizabeth, whose real name is Elizabeth Ann Hulette and was married to Randy “Macho Man” Savage for many years, was in a relationship with Luger at the time of her death. She ended up working at the front desk of a gym Luger owned after she couldn’t cut it in the wrestling business any longer. … Happy 74th birthday to Jack Welch, also known as the Father of Management. He is arguably the most influential American businessman in history and his works are mandatory reading for business students at many universities around the country. Did you know that Welch, the former CEO of General Electric who is worth $750 million, teaches a class at MIT to hand-picked business students focusing on leadership. … Thursday Ramblings will not appear next week because of the holiday and will return to Decent Community on Dec. 3.

What’s the best way to dispose of a rotting whale carcass? Well according to the Oregon Highway Division, it’s with a half-ton of dynamite. Our tale begins 39 years ago when a dead sperm whale surfaced on an Oregon beach. Officials from various state agencies put their heads together, with a little help from the U.S. Navy, and decided that rather than bury it, they would blow it to pieces. The result was whale blubber being shot hundreds of feet in every direction and even damaging parked cars in a nearby parking lot. The smell lingered for days and that incident is now seen as one of the greatest examples of “be careful what you blow up.” The video footage became famous years later when the Internet got going. … Speaking of the Internet, Computer viruses have adapted from minor inconvenience to stolen credit card numbers to getting you thrown in jail. Take in point the new virus that automatically downloads child porn to your computer and then calls the FBI on you. I’m not joking. … There’s getting buzzed, getting wasted, blacking out, then there’s almost dying. The latter happened to an Iowa college student pledging at one of those D-Bag fraternities. So after shotgunning five beers, this freshman was forced to chug cups of grain alcohol. He ended up with a blood alcohol level of .500, which is more than six times the legal driving limit and apparently in the “lethal” category. Well he survived, but one guy who didn’t is the world record holder who blew a .90, according to Reuters. … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Poor guy comes home from vacation to find his house was destroyed to make room for a hotel parking lot; 2) Law students from small community college defeat their peers from Yale, Boston College and Boston University at a recent mock trial competition at Harvard; and 3) Rabbits are now getting penis transplants. … Happy 27th birthday to Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway. Fans of classic starlet Judy Garland will be happy to hear that Hathaway is set to play Garland in a biopic titled “Get Happy” which is planned to hit theaters in 2011. … Happy 32nd birthday to former Playboy centerfold Dalene Kurtis, who in September 2001 became the first Playmate of the Month without pubic hair. She laid the carpet (pun intended) for generations of ladies to embrace the wax and razor. … Finally, happy 41st birthday to baseball player Sammy Sosa. He is the all-time leader in home runs for a player who was born outside the U.S. (608) but i’ll always remember him as the guy who suddenly couldn’t speak English at that congressional hearing on steroids back in 2002. And what’s with the Michael Jackson “I’m going to be white” thing he’s got going on right now?

Two big thumbs up for the Rose Alley Ale House’s Halloween Party last Friday. Two highlights: The two girls dressed as hookers making out with each other (and everyone around them), and the guy dressed like the Jagerbomb Dude walking around saying “I shower in that shit” while double-fisting Heinekens. Got a few minutes? Vote on CollegeHumor’s Halloween Costume contest. What a great display of creativity. I voted thumbs up for the two guys dressed up as Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam arcade machines. Good brainstorming for next year, too. … Could A-Rod sound any gayer than his remarks on the podium after last night’s win? … Those of you who are already sick of it getting dark at 4:30 should move to Arizona, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, the three spots in the U.S. that don’t set the clocks back. Why? Well Puerto Rico’s decision has to do with its latitude and longitude. Hawaii is already in its own time zone anyway and Arizona, well good question. Google doesn’t seem to know either. Guess just another reason why Arizona is a very decent state. … As if being Irish wasn’t awesome enough already, a new study finds that an Irish accent is the world’s sexiest. Past top holder, the weak French accent, fell all the way to fourth, behind Italian and Scottish. The study, which interviewed more than 5,000 chicks, also says that 60 percent of those chicks have banged someone just because of their accent. Decent. Sucks to be an American in this discussion though as the U.S. was just 10th on the list. … This week’s sign of the Apocalypse: Snuggie For Dogs. Yes, those gay Snuggie commercials are now advertising ones made especially for your little Muffy. Here’s the deal, dog-lovers, two Snuggies and two recordable dog tags for $14.95. Ouch. … Three links for your reading enjoyment this Thursday: 1) Bear mauls two terrorists hiding out in a Middle Eastern cave; 2) You knew this was coming on Halloween — A guy gets a DUI while wearing a breathalyzer costume; and 3) Meet the person being billed as the next Steve Irwin. … Two thumbs way up for Law Abiding Citizen. This week’s not-that-bold prediction: Gerard Butler is headed to superstardom in the next two years. … Happy 68th birthday to folk legend Art Garfunkel. Did you know that the less-successful half of “Simon and Garfunkel” is a bibliophile? Nothing bad, just maybe considered a reading addict. On his Web site, he shares a list of every book he’s read with over 1,000 entries. … Happy 32nd birthday to porn star Brittany Skye. What sets her apart from all the other decent ladies of porn? She ducked under the ropes in the final round of the 2003 U.S. Open, ran onto the putting green topless with “Golden Palace Casino” stenciled on her boobs and gave a flower to Jim Furyk. She spent two nights in jail and was fined for the incident. In true Thursday Ramblings fashion, here’s Skye in action.
